LNT (Linear No Threshold) rule
This term refers in radioprotection to a relationship proposed by the ICRP to assess the effect of exposure to a dose of radioactivity. This simple rule assumes a proportionality between doses and effects. Given the absence of data about the effect of low doses of radiations, this rule may overestimate the hazard. The risk (for example of cancer) should be considered then as a maximum (application of the precaution principle).
